Gratitude has and always will be a major source of how we perceive our success story, whether we accept it or not. The truth is, when we a greatful for our life as it is, and we choose to accept the beauty that truly is life, we can then move forward into the future with confidence that there is nothing to lose by trying a little harder!
We have two options. We can spend the beginning of this new year stressing out about all the times in the past year we didn’t put in the work to make our dreams a reality and we can dwell on all the things that didn’t go to plan or we can choose to see the past as what it truly is – unchangeable!
Now is not the time to regret the lost time you may have spent doing the wrong things last year. Now is a chance to be thankful for the lessons that you have learned because they will no doubt serve you later down the track (probably this year). Just promise to yourself that you will not make the same mistakes twice.

So, when you look around at your current life on January 1st, remember that you are right where you need to be. Everything that has ever happened to you, both positive and negative has served a purpose (sometimes this purpose we won’t find out until years later, but trust it). You have everything you need right now to succeed at whatever you choose, and that’s the honest truth.

If all you do today is write a plan, set 30 minutes aside and decide what it is that you are going to do this year. What achievement could you put down on paper that if you achieved, would make you well up with tears or get goosebumps on the back of your neck at the end of 2020.
Write a plan and make it happen. Gratitude will keep you disciplined along the way – gratitude for those that love you, gratitude for the challenges that will shape you into a better person and gratitude for your abilities and talents.
Make sure to thank those you are greatful for in 2020 – it will bring you feelings of purpose just as it will them.
Gratitude will bring you hope this new year.
