There’s a chance you’re reading this because you want to be perfect, you want everything to go to plan and you want your life to just fall in place for you. If I’m honest, continuing to have these thoughts is actually what’s holding you back from exactly what you want.
To be ‘perfectly you’ is not to never make a mistake but to embrace your mistakes. To wear them with pride and learn to make solutions to the challenges that come out of your mistakes. Mistakes are a part of human nature and we will make them throughout our whole life, so why try to be perfect when we all know that it will just be one big lie? Don’t do that to yourself, love yourself enough to be honest when you fall so that your issues don’t just keep getting ‘swept under the carpet’ so to speak.
To be ‘perfectly you’ is not to never make a mistake but to embrace your mistakes.
If we’re continually sweeping our issues under the carpet just to uphold some sort of spectacular image of ourselves to others, our issues will never be solved and we will never truly grow and have the chance to feel the satisfaction of growth. Our happiness is personal and we don’t have to prove anything to others to achieve it – only ourselves.
Our happiness is personal and we don’t have to prove anything to others to achieve it – only ourselves.
You know when we feel the most ‘perfectly us’? It’s when we face up to an issue we have no idea how to approach but we just know it needs to be solved. So we take a go at it, take a chance on solving it and come up with a solution we never knew we had in us. We start to realise we’re capable of so much more than we give ourselves credit for. We start to see ourselves growing and learning in ways we never thought possible before.
Most importantly we start to see our true selves shine through in all that we do. And you know what, That’s Perfectly You!
Always,
~ Adam, 2019

I moved away, a long time ago, from the ideal of perfection. I was savaged by someone, last Fall, for “daring” to be imperfect, and therefore, “untrustworthy”. This person was removed from my life, in relatively short order. I work on my issues, for the sake of being a better person-not anywhere near perfect.

Absolutely that’s the best way to do it. The only person we should aim to be better than is who we were yesterday. Keep striving and thanks for sharing and reading 🙂

I love this! I also just found peace in being okay with me. All of me. Even the weak or dark parts. It’s all greatness. Thank you for posting this! 🙏🏻

That’s exactly right. We need to get comfortable with uncomfortable parts of ourselves and be accepting of ourselves as a whole, not just the good parts 🙂 Thanks for reading!

Great post! Between my mental health and my daughter’s plus my mom having her own struggles, I gave up on perfection years ago. I used to get flack on my blog for being too realistic but it’s life! We’re perfectly happy being perfectly imperfect which is perfect for us ❤️
