If only we could turn back time, would we change the things of our past or let them be as they are? Does time moving forward signify that we can’t go back to the better days that we believe are behind us? It’s nice sometimes to speculate about going back in time to improve things that we’re either ashamed of or burdened by, but we must leave those thoughts as ‘sometimes’ thoughts only.
Yes, looking back is well and good to reflect on our mistakes and better ourselves for the future. However, what we must not do is look back to the past as if all that is good and ever will be good lies there, because it doesn’t. No matter how great or poor the past may have been and how lowly you may feel right now, there are always better times ahead.
No matter how great or poor the past may have been and how lowly you may feel right now, there are always better times ahead.
We have the ability as humans to add more meaning to life each day. The more experiences we have, the greater our loss of innocence but also the greater our perspective opens up to the limitless opportunities for tremendous discovery that surround us.
If we could turn back time there might be things that we wish we could change, but I promise you, you don’t need to. Just use the present to rewrite the meaning of those struggles, mistakes and shortcomings that weigh down your thoughts of the past. Give them purpose and let them spur you on to better things. Be inspired by the fact that the dramas that may have happened to you in your past will only serve you in the present and future. It’s only by facing these battles that we can realise the true value of the good times and appreciate them so much more.
You can have all the money in the world and still struggle with so many social, mental and physical issues, yet you can be the poorest of the poor and be healthier and more mentally strong than any other person.
Trust the past and your ability to rewrite it’s meaning.
