In the midst of chaos, seek to find peace in all you do. Look for beauty in the small things and be proud of the small goals you achieve each day. In all honesty, there are so many ways to find peace and respond to a situation that calms the flame of chaos surrounding it. Maybe it’s that you write – fictionally, reflectively or creatively, or maybe you sing or read or run or pray. Whatever it is you choose to do, take responsibility of it, own it and trust on it in times of need, times of chaos, times of confusion.

If I’m really honest, a lot of the things I do now, for example; writing, playing musical instruments, exercising and praying have all been coping mechanisms for me at different stages of my life. I always continue to do them, even though it may not be often, I do them consistently enough that I remember what they feel like.

The reason is I continue to do them is so that I can use them and call on them as tools when I truly need them. When I find myself overwhelmed, I lock into a mode, a different kind of being – it’s my sacred place and it keeps me alive and open to transformation.

I focus on improvement – being a better guitarist, being a more honest writer and building my ideal body because the truth is, if I can see progress in these areas I will most definitely find myself back on track in the future, and probably a better person because of it.

Sometimes these periods of focus are longer than others, but it’s for good reason. The universe is giving us some indications – it’s telling us one of two things; we’re either ready to get back on track, or the counter; we still have more work to do.

It’s a win-win situation in reality. The quicker we return to a stable state of mind without forcing it the more we realise the purpose of our past shortcomings – they have made us more experienced and adaptive to chaotic situations. However, a longer period spent in this sacred place means we are going through a transformative process – and we will no doubt come out a changed person.

The speed of the process does not matter because you will eventually end up where you need to be.

The speed of the process does not matter because you will eventually end up where you need to be. Just embrace who you are and trust the timing of your situation. If you can’t seem to overcome the chaos, just stay in that sacred place as long as you need to. The beauty of it is that there is no limit on its length. Don’t rush to get out, but be patient. Cherish the moments you spend in this sacred place and please when you get back on track – make it your mission to help others do the same.

Always,
