A stranger is someone who has never interacted with you or sensed your presence, equally it is someone who you have never interacted or communicated with yourself. There is something boundlessly special about that first interaction with a stranger. Something so innocent, free and uplifting. Whilst prejudice is a possibility, no judgement on your past character, or on your triumphs and mistakes exists. You are seen at face value and your ability to make an impression is maximised, whether that be positive or negative.
A fact of life is that experience teaches us the importance of upcoming situations. We unconsciously become more anxious and uneasy when faced with situations we deem to have a great bearing on the outcomes of our future. We must learn to identify these feelings and understand that they are positive. Feelings of unease often prove that we hold value and meaning in what’s ahead, and if we can learn to control how we respond to them, we are taking one of the greatest steps toward growth.

So you may have come to your own opinion about why exuding positive energy to strangers is so important, and I want to add my two cents…
We don’t know much at all, if anything about a stranger we may meet. We may come to conclusions based on their looks, but this is a misguided mistake. We know nothing of their strengths, their weaknesses, what they can offer us or what they may need from us. We are as much an asset to others as they are to us. What we lack they may have in bounds, and vice versa. So why not build our ‘library of people’ from the get go. Forget the immediate flaws you see in others (and yourself) and confidently approach new situations with the best intentions. You never know what a stranger could do for your life if you just give it the chance. It is my opinion that any stranger can offer us something in life that we may not have seen, comprehended or imagined yet (no matter how big or small).

Bring positivity wherever you go. Not because you have to, but because you want to explore parts of yourself that you have never known. There is something so exciting about the fact that we have already learned so much, and the more we learn the more we realise how much there is still to learn. Life-long learning is process we must trust and it is others that hold the key to our learning. So give them your greatest intentions, avoid pre-judgement and jealousy, and I’m sure that the same positivity you give will follow you wherever you go.
